Barbara Bennett Hodgson, 88, of Charleston passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Edgewood Summit. She was born January 19, 1926 in Fayetteville, WV a daughter of the late Herbert H. and Clara Mae Settle Bennett. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph E. Hodgson, her sister Dorothy M. Derr, and her brother George Edward Bennett. Barbara was a 1944 graduate of Fayetteville High School. She was employed by the Fayette County Board of Education for many years. She married Joseph E. Barbara Bennett Hodgson, 88, of Charleston passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2014 at Edgewood Summit.



She was born January 19, 1926 in Fayetteville, WV a daughter of the late Herbert H. and Clara Mae Settle Bennett. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph E. Hodgson, her sister Dorothy M. Derr, and her brother George Edward Bennett.



Barbara was a 1944 graduate of Fayetteville High School. She was employed by the Fayette County Board of Education for many years. She married Joseph E. Hodgson and they were active in the Fayetteville Presbyterian Church. Years later they moved to Charleston. She and her husband became members of Bream Memorial Presbyterian Church, where she was a member of the choir, taught Sunday school, and served on various committees. Barbara moved to Edgewood Summit in 2009 where she resided until her death. She loved animals, music, nature, and held a special place in her heart for dogs.



Barbara is survived by three sisters, Genevre B. Good and her husband Robert C. of Davis, Ca, Cornelia K. Seltzer of Green Valley, AZ, and Yvonne B. Jowdy of Richmond, Va., and many nieces and nephews.



Funeral services will be Friday, September 5, 2014 at 1pm at Bream Memorial Presbyterian Church Chapel, 317 Washington St. with Rev. Jim Robinson officiating. Burial will follow at Huse Memorial Park, Fayetteville, WV.



Visitation will be from 12 noon till time of the services at the church chapel.



In lieu of flowers the family suggest donations be made to Bream Memorial Presbyterian Church, 317 Washington St. Charleston, WV 25302 or Charleston Regional Spay Neuter Center PO Box 7349 Charleston, WV 25313.
