Barbara graduated from Phillips High school and attended Auburn University for 1 1/2 years. She was involved in a major automobile accident coming home for Thanksgiving in 1956. This left her partially paralyzed on the right side. She worked hard at her physical therapy and was able to walk again with impairment. She was a beautiful woman, I her husband, graduated from the University of Alabama but, I had to go to Auburn to find a wife!! The first time I saw her, I said to myself "that was going to be my wife" and that did occur. Barbara was mother to one child Brenda Schuler, and grandmother to Lacey Davis (Andrew) of Dallas Texas, and Robert Schuler III, a student at Sewanee University. Barbara dearly loved her family and was extremely proud of them. She is survived by her husband of 55 years Robert Lee Lacey III (Bob) and a sister Jean Kirby (& Dr. Donald Kirby) of Mobile Alabama plus a number of other relatives. She and her husband have lived in Vestavia for over 35 years and have been members of St Mark Methodist Church since 1965. Please no home visitation, visitation will be Thursday, April 17, 2014 from 10:30 am to 11:30 am with funeral services following at 11:30 am in the Chapel. If you choose to make a memorial, please consider St Mark Methodist Church on Columbiana Road, or your favorite charity .
