Barbara James Prather, age 75, of Clearview Drive, Cartersville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday afternoon June 11, 2013 at Calhoun Health Care. Mrs. Prather was born November 22, 1937 in Lindale, Georgia, daughter of the late Jerry Jerome (J.J.) James and Clara Mae Brock James. She was a Homemaker, was of the Baptist faith, was a member of the Good Sam's Club, CHVA and NMA. She was the mother of 2 children, taught Sunday School at Peeples Valley Baptist Church and Trinity Baptist Church. Survivors include her husband of 53 years, B.J. Barbara James Prather, age 75, of Clearview Drive, Cartersville, Georgia, passed away Tuesday afternoon June 11, 2013 at Calhoun Health Care.
Mrs. Prather was born November 22, 1937 in Lindale, Georgia, daughter of the late Jerry Jerome (J.J.) James and Clara Mae Brock James. She was a Homemaker, was of the Baptist faith, was a member of the Good Sam's Club, CHVA and NMA. She was the mother of 2 children, taught Sunday School at Peeples Valley Baptist Church and Trinity Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, B.J. "Bill" Prather; a daughter, Brhonda Prather Payne; a son, B. Todd Prather; a granddaughter, Anna Prather; a grandson, Ryan Payne; 3 sisters, Genia Brown, Ann Farrer and Joan Morris; a brother, Carey James; The Joyfulaires; number of nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon June 13th at 3:00 P.M. in the Owen Funeral Home Chapel with rev. Randy Jackson, Rev. Danny Willis and Rev. Dan Huskins officiating. Interment will be on Friday morning June 14th at 9:30 A.M. in the Georgia National Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 5:00 until 8:00 P.M. at Owen Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Breast Cancer Research.
