Barry Toman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 8, 2018.

"Farewell to you and the youth I spent with you, it was but yesterday we met in a dream..." Our beloved Barry Toman, 66, of Binghamton passed away January 5, 2018 surrounded by his loving family after a courageous and hard fought battle with cancer. He was a man of strong conviction; true to himself, confident, strong and knowledgeable. He loved his family more than words can express, and he gave of himself to them in all that he did. He had a passion for hunting, fishing and nature; and he enjoyed the many projects he worked on in his home. Following in his father's footsteps, he excelled in sheet metal traveling between New York and Florida to practice his trade. He was adept in various aspects of construction as well, and he mentored family and friends on numerous projects which he found challenging and enjoyable. Barry is predeceased by his father, Paul Toman and sister, Sharon Kunkle. He is survived by his loving wife, Wendy Toman; devoted daughter & son-in-law Jennifer & Michael Stevenson and grandson Chris Stevenson; mother Ruth Toman; brother, Gary (Charlene) Toman; sister, Theresa (Dick) Henry; aunt and cousin-in-law Jeanne & Maria O'Donovan; nieces Brenda, Pam, Meredith, Lauren, and Shelby; nephews, Kevin and Jason. Calling hours will be held at Wm. R. Chase & Son Funeral Home, 737 Chenango Street, Port Dickinson, NY 13901 on Friday, January 12, 2018 from 3-5 pm. A memorial service will be held immediately following. His family would like to express their deepest thanks to Lourdes Hospice caregivers and nurses for their devotion, aid and compassion. Barry will be remembered, loved and cherished by his family for the rest of their days.
