Barry V. Betz, 48, of Swansea, Illinois, born June 21, 1964, in Belleville, Illinois, passed away, Thursday, January 17, 2013, in St. Louis, Missouri. Barry was employed for 28 years with Boeing, St. Louis, Missouri, as an electrician, working on the wiring systems on the F-15. He was also a union member of I.A.M. Lodge 837. He was active with the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elk's, Lodge 664, Fairview Heights, Ill., serving as an officer for 16 years and the Belleville/Swansea Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge 1221. Barry V. Betz, 48, of Swansea, Illinois, born June 21, 1964, in Belleville, Illinois, passed away, Thursday, January 17, 2013, in St. Louis, Missouri.

Barry was employed for 28 years with Boeing, St. Louis, Missouri, as an electrician, working on the wiring systems on the F-15. He was also a union member of I.A.M. Lodge 837. He was active with the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elk's, Lodge 664, Fairview Heights, Ill., serving as an officer for 16 years and the Belleville/Swansea Loyal Order of the Moose, Lodge 1221. He loved the outdoors, especially, fishing, boating, and hunting; at his cabin. He also enjoyed spending time restoring his '66 Le Mans, manicuring his lawn, bowling, and playing cards with friends from Boeing. He never met a stranger, and was a friend to all. He was a loving husband, father, son, and brother, who will truly be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Vincent G. Betz and his father-in-law, William Hodge; and a sister-in-law, Sandy Reaves.

Surviving are his high school sweetheart, whom he married on August 3, 1985, Diane Betz, nee Hodge; of Swansea, Illinois; his son, Michael Betz; daughter, Kristen (Jacob) Kienitz; his mother, Carole (Roland) Betz-Stevens; his mother-in-law, Virginia Hodge; a sister, Cindy (Nancy Fowler) Betz; step- sisters, Lynn Mitchell and Judy Rickert; a step-brother, James Stevens; sisters-in-law, Pat (Edward) Ott, and Ginny (Jeff) Bergman; brothers-in-law, Mark Hodge and Bill (Lynn) Hodge; an uncle, Bradley (Kara) Cress; many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends; and his dog, Jack.

Visitation: Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m., Sunday, January 20, 2013; the Elk's Lodge 664 will hold a service at 7p.m., at Lake View Funeral Home, Fairview Heights, Illinois.

Funeral: Services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, January 21, 2013, at the funeral home. Interment will be held in Lake View Memorial Gardens, Fairview Heights, Illinois.
