Beatrice Anderson Obituary

Beatrice "Bea" (Falls) Kautz-Anderson, 100, formerly of Lima and Columbus Grove, died at 10:40 a.m., Monday, April 16, 2012, at the Meadows of Kalida. She was born June 13, 1911, in Lima, to John D. and Lulu M. (Harsh) Falls who preceded her in death.
She graduated from Lima Central High School and attended Lima Business School and Strayer's Business College in Washington, D.C. After working for the F.B.I., she had worked for the Civil Service Commission in Washington, D.C. from 1941-1943. She then worked at the Lima Tank Depot from 1943-1945, and from 1945-1947, she worked for the Lima Locomotive Works.
Mrs. Kautz-Anderson retired after 25 years from Superior Coach Corp. as an executive secretary to John H. Shields who was President and C.E.O.
On March 17, 1950, she married Elbert Earl "Ed" Kautz, and acquired two stepsons: Roland "Ron" Kautz of Arroyo Grande, CA, and grandchildren: Karin Berndt, Kelley Wandelear, Kimberly Banks and seven great-grandchildren; and Kenneth (Myrna) Kautz of Ste Marie, MT and grandchildren: Tamera Smothermon, Kristie Jones, Kendra Bass, Natalee Wood and fourteen great and great-great grandchildren. For many years in their retirement, Bea and Ed enjoyed the luxury of wintering in Arizona and summering in Ohio, enjoying the golf in both areas. Elbert "Ed" died July 12, 1999, just a few months short of celebrating their 50th anniversary.
Bea then married Alfred E. Anderson on Aug. 16, 2002, and acquired the step-family of Ralph (Patricia) Anderson of Columbus Grove, Ann Anderson (Ray) Clevenger of Defiance, Kay Anderson (Robert) Schoonover of Columbus Grove and a stepdaughter-in-law, LaVada Anderson of Mt. Vernon, IN, along with Alfred's ten grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Alfred passed away on Mar. 22, 2010. The seven and one-half years with Alfred were filled with laughter and caring, bringing companionship to both of them in their advanced years.
She was a member of the Superior Coach 25 year club, a fifty year member of the Professional Secretaries Association, a charter member of Lost Creek Country Club, a charter member and past officer of the Lima District Women's Bowling Association and was inducted into the Lima District Women's Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1994, and won multiple trophies and recognitions in bowling competition. She was a also a member of the Lima District Women's Golf Association, a member of the Ladies' Golf Association of Painted Mountain in Mesa, AZ, and was victorious in many club, city and national tournaments in Lima and Arizona. She was inducted into the Allen County Golf Hall of Fame in 2006.
She was a member of First Christian Science Church, Lima, a life member of Lima Memorial Hospital Auxiliary where she had volunteered over 5000 hours. She was a 10 year volunteer of the American Red Cross Auxiliary, B.P.O.E. #54 Auxiliary, F.O.E. Aerie #370, a member of the Senior Citizens of Lima, a member of the Lima Chapter D.A.R. and the Saquaro Chapter D.A.R. in Mesa, AZ, both a source of pride in her family heritage. She was an avid bridge player and was well known for her golfing and bowling achievements in Lima and her volunteer work.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Rebecca F. Schweigert, and as stepson, Ernest Anderson.
Funeral services will begin at 3:00 p.m., on Tuesday, at Siferd-Orians Funeral Home, with Reader Richard Riggs officiating. Burial will be at a later date at Woodlawn Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1:00 p.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Meadows of Kalida Activity Fund or First Christian Science Church.

I wish to send my heartfelt sympathy to the family of Bea. She was my very favorite resident at The Meadows of Kalida, I miss seeing her so much, it was a privelege to consider her a friend. My prayers are with you all.
