Beatrice Demos Sotis, born February 5, 1935, died peacefully in her home in Sandy Springs, GA on June 19, 2012. Diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2008, Beatrice overcame the odds and successfully survived this disease for almost four years before succumbing to a return of the cancer in 2012. She was born in Chicago, IL to Greek immigrant parents Anthony and Arista Fotopoulos. After living in Chicago; Hammond, IN; then Griffin, GA, Beatrice settled in Atlanta in 1944. She was an active member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral where she sang in the church choir. It was here that she met her husband, John N. Demos, the director of the choir. The couple married in 1961, and during their nearly thirty year marriage, she was a devoted wife and mother of three children. All the while, she maintained a successful management position with AT&T and her commitments to the Church. After her husband, John, died in 1988 of lymphoma, Beatrice continued serving the cathedral both in the choir as well as in one of the major philanthropic organizations of the Church, the Ladies Philoptochos Society. She also assumed the role of devoted grandmother to her eight grandchildren. In 2001, Beatrice married Robert Sotis and during the couple's ten year marriage, began to travel and continued to enjoy her family. She will be remembered for her deep love for family and the Church. She modeled the Gospel everyday of her life, selflessly serving others above herself and loving all unconditionally. In addition to her husband John, she was predeceased by her parents and her sister, Jeanie Rumanes. She is survived by her husband, Robert, her sister Angeline Browning of Stuart, FL, her brother Chris Foster of Decatur, GA, her children, Nickitas Demos, Diane Demos Davis, Chris Demos and her grandchildren Johnny, Eleni, Anna, Leah, Callie, Matthew, Madeline and Jack. Visitation will be at H. M. Patterson & Son Funeral Home, 4550 Peachtree Road, NE, Atlanta, GA 30319 from 5 - 7 PM pm with a Prayer Service beginning at 7 PM, on Wednesday, June 20. Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, June 21 at 11 AM at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 2500 Clairmont Road, NE, Atlanta, GA 30329. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Beatrice's name be made to the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church and earmarked for the "Road Full of Promise" program. May her memory be eternal.
