Beauford Ray Hopkins of Plano, Texas, born October 29, 1939 passed from this life September 8, 2017 at the age of 77.
Beauford served 30 years with Dallas Fire Department during which time he received an Honorable Discharge from The United States Army, and a degree in accounting from The University of North Texas in Denton. His career with the Dallas Fire Department raised him to the Rank of Battalion Chief prior to his retirement in 1990.
Beauford loved family and friends and was a tremendous handy-man. He greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing, as well as assisting others with whatever projects they may have.
Beauford was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Lucille Hopkins; his wife, Shirley Boren Hopkins; a brother, Mason and two sisters, Corena and Jane.
He is survived in life by his longtime life-companion, Shirley Wells; his aunt, Hazel Meredith; numerous cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and a host of close friends.
Special thanks are offered to Christy keel and Brian Adams of Pathway Hospice , who provided tremendous care and compassion for Beauford at his home during the last months of life.
A visitation will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, September 11, 2017 at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, Texas 75225. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, September 12, 2017 in The Firemen's Rest section of Hillcrest Memorial Park, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, Texas 75225.

Beauford always had a smile for everyone. He had a great sense of humor and was everybody's buddy. I will miss him.

Beauford, I remember the first time I met you back in 2009 at the card games
at the Medical City of Plano. I was impressed how you circled the room and greeted almost everyone there before the games began. It was a pleasure to be on your side of the competetion every night. We won a lot of games and we lost a lot of games. You will be missed by a lot of people. Rest in Peace.
