Benito Trejo Mendez April 3, 1929 - June 4, 2012 Benito T. Mendez was born on April 3, 1929 the youngest son of Ponciano Mendez and Juana Trejo Mendez in Guadalcazar, San Luis Potosi, Mexico. He went to be with his Savior on June 4, 2012 in Delano, California, Benito married his sweetheart, Sylvia in 1951 and came to the United States the same year. He moved his Family from Texas to California in 1958 and lived in the McFarland area for 54 years. He worked as a farm laborer most of his life. Benito Trejo Mendez April 3, 1929 - June 4, 2012 Benito T. Mendez was born on April 3, 1929 the youngest son of Ponciano Mendez and Juana Trejo Mendez in Guadalcazar, San Luis Potosi, Mexico. He went to be with his Savior on June 4, 2012 in Delano, California, Benito married his sweetheart, Sylvia in 1951 and came to the United States the same year. He moved his Family from Texas to California in 1958 and lived in the McFarland area for 54 years. He worked as a farm laborer most of his life. He will be remembered for his strong devotion to his faith, hard work, and the pride he took in his immaculate landscaping. He was a man who always kept busy doing things around the house. He had a knack for being creative in making gadgets. He loved his word search puzzles and when completed, he would write on the page the events of the day. He enjoyed family gatherings in their backyard where his greatest joy was dancing with his wife. He leaves his family and friends with beautiful memories. He is preceded in death by his parents, 4 brothers, daughter Gregoria, son Rafael, grandson Randy Evans II and great granddaughter, Sara Elizabeth Hernandez and son- in-law Mel De Leon. He is survived by his beloved wife Sylvia of 60 years, his only son, Benito Jr., 7 daughters , Martha Evans (Randy), Virginia Mendez, Mary Garcia, Sylvia Guillen (Bernie), Sandra De Leon, Delia Barajas (Eugenio), Lupe Kurz (Frank), 17 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and his brother Sebastian Mendez, along with numerous godchildren and extended family and friends. Rosary is scheduled for Friday, June 8 at 6:30 at St. Elizabeth's Catholic Church 835 E. Perkins Ave., McFarland, California. Mass of Christian burial will be held on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the same location. Burial to follow at North Kern District Cemetery in Delano, CA.
