BRUCE KONOPKA "A Real Cool Cat" CHATHAM- Bernard Anthony "Bruce" Konopka passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side in the early morning hours of Thursday June 26, 2014. Bruce is survived by his beautiful wife of 59 years Joan (Gentile) Konopka and his 3 daughters, Karen Konopka and her partner Danny Kearney, Joyce Reynolds and her husband Francis and Gayle Capulli and her husband Christian all of Chatham. He leaves 4 wonderful grandchildren, Emily Reynolds of Newport, RI, Richie Muto of Chatham, Patrick Reynolds of Chatham and Celia Muto of Boston. He also leaves many nieces, nephews and godchildren. CHATHAM- Bernard Anthony "Bruce" Konopka passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side in the early morning hours of Thursday June 26, 2014.
Bruce is survived by his beautiful wife of 59 years Joan (Gentile) Konopka and his 3 daughters, Karen Konopka and her partner Danny Kearney, Joyce Reynolds and her husband Francis and Gayle Capulli and her husband Christian all of Chatham.
He leaves 4 wonderful grandchildren, Emily Reynolds of Newport, RI, Richie Muto of Chatham, Patrick Reynolds of Chatham and Celia Muto of Boston.
He also leaves many nieces, nephews and godchildren.
Born Sunday October 12, 1930 in Worcester, Mass., to the late Anthony and the late Sophia (Kowaleski) Konopka, he was the eldest of 3 children that included his sister Carol Enman of Worcester and his late brother Richard.
Bruce was a man of many accomplishments; at talented musician, a published poet, U.S. Army Veteran, master barber, Chatham shellfisherman and a park ranger at Nickerson State Park, in Brewster.
You can visit Bruce anytime you wish when you go to Lighthouse Beach and listen to the surf and smell the ocean breeze, when you stroll Chase Park, when you find yourself grooving to a great jazz tune or just when you're enjoying good times with family and great friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church on Highland Ave, Chatham beginning at 10AM. Immediately following Mass, a gathering of friends can visit, share stories and music at the VFW Post on George Ryder Road in West Chatham.
In lieu of flowers donations in Bruce's memory can be made to Capeabilities, Inc. 895 Mary Dunn Road, Hyannis, MA 02601 or to Hope Hospice, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601.
