Bernice Louise (Rothermel) Heritage passed peacefully on September 4, 2017. She was born on December 2, 1932 in Randolph, Ohio to Alvin Louis and Mildred Elizabeth (Miller) Rothermel.
She began working for Dr. R.C. Neely in Ravenna shortly after high school, and continued as his office assistant for almost 50 years. Her kindness and helpfulness touched everyone who knew her. Also for nearly 30 years she served families at funeral homes and immeasurably helped them through these difficult times.
On November 13, 1954, Bernice married the love of her life, Austin Heritage. He preceded her in death on January 1, 2016. Together, they had three children: Diane (Marshall) Mullins, Mark Heritage, and Camille (Ken) Tillman. She is also survived by her brother Paul Rothermel and her grandchildren: Amanda Mullins, April (Brett) Collins, Sarah Mullins, Brandon (Lauren) Heritage, Katie Heritage, Alex Heritage, Elliot Tillman and Natalie Tillman, as well as her great-grandsons Jack and Sam Heritage.
Affectionately known as "Pinsey" by her family and friends, she volunteered time and skills to the community through her church, St. Joseph of Mantua, in various roles including Worship Committee, Eucharistic Minister, Garden Club, wedding coordinator, and Prison Ministry. She also helped her husband in his carpentry business. Her deep love of animals was well known.
Cremation has taken place. Friends will be received Monday, September 11, 2017, from 10:00 – 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church, 11045 St. Joseph Blvd., Mantua, OH 44255, with Reverend Edward Stafford celebrating the Mass of Christian burial following at 11:00 AM. Private burial will take place at St. Joseph Cemetery in Randolph.

How good and pleasant it is when brethren dwell together in unity. This is the epitome of my relationship with Bernice which started with me taking care of her husband as he began his decline. Our relationship/friendship continued through her work at the funeral home. Always the consummate professional she took unselfish pride in the service she provided to others. I was sorry to hear of the demise of her beloved husband and the beginning of her own decline. I will take solace in the fact that she is back in the presence of her Lord and Savior. How appropriate she transitioned on Labor Day as she went from labor to reward. This is not good bye my dear friend, just until we meet again farther on up the road as I continue to climb the stairway to Heaven to join you because you are pure in heart, already missing you!
