Bernice M. Hill, 89, of Medina, NY passed away on January 16, 2013 at the Medina Memorial Hospital North Wing.
Bernice was born on October 8, 1923 in Alabama, NY, the daughter of the late George A. and Hattie A. (Woodstock) Kraatz. She grew up in the Wheatville area and came to Medina in 1939. Her first job was with the Medina Pennysaver and at one time worked at HJ Heinz and Lipton in Albion. She also worked for General Motors during WWII (Harrison Rd). She operated the Green House & Gift Shop on Million Dollar Highway in Medina, selling new and used items, most notably Chenille bedspreads. Bernice spent her winters in Florida and summers in Medina.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Medina and a former member of Grace Lutheran Church in Ft. Myers, FL. Bernice loved traveling to Germany, Austria, and South America.
She was a member of Trinity and Grace Ladies Guild and the Trinity Ladies Valpo Guild and the National Guild.
Bernice is survived by her Son, Gerald D. (Shari Waldo) Meiser of Westminster, SC, Grandaughter, Robin Smith of Lockport, NY, Stepdaughter, Linda C (James) Mistal of Phoenix, AZ, Grandson Charlye Jordan Smith of Lockport, NY, Numerous Step-grandchildren, Step- Great-grandchildren, and Step- Great-greatgranchildren.
Sister Eunice M. (Joseph) Murray of Venice, FL.
Several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call on Friday, January 18, 2013 from10AM to 12PM at the Bates & Tuttle Funeral Home, 226 Pearl Street, Medina, NY, where a funeral service will be held at 12 Noon with Rev. Peter Lindermann officiating. Burial will be in W. Ridgeway Cemetery in the spring. Memorials may be made in Bernice's name to the Trinity Lutheran Church, 1212 West Ave., Medina, NY 14103
