Bernice C. Perman, 88 went to be with her loving husband and dance partner Ralph after a long, brave battle with Alzheimer's disease on Saturday, August 23, 2014. Bernice was born in Sharon, PA on June 19, 1926 to parents Michael and Bessie Chakan. Early in life, before marriage, Bernice worked as an accountant for Westinghouse. She married Ralph in 1951, and moved to the Daytona Beach area in 1971. They purchased Twilight Catering from her sister, Twila and operated the business for 20 years. Bernice C. Perman, 88 went to be with her loving husband and dance partner Ralph after a long, brave battle with Alzheimer's disease on Saturday, August 23, 2014. Bernice was born in Sharon, PA on June 19, 1926 to parents Michael and Bessie Chakan.

Early in life, before marriage, Bernice worked as an accountant for Westinghouse. She married Ralph in 1951, and moved to the Daytona Beach area in 1971. They purchased Twilight Catering from her sister, Twila and operated the business for 20 years. They also owned a small diner on Beach St. in Daytona for a short time. In addition, Bernice also worked at A Child's Place and most recently at Doctors' Choice until February of this year. She cherished her children most of all "They were her life". She and Ralph shared a love of music which brought them great joy. They were valued members of the Moonlighters Swing Band as well as other local bands. They have been members of St. Paul's Catholic Church since moving to Daytona Beach.

Bernice is preceded in death by her husband of 52 years Ralph E. Perman. She is survived by her sons Ralph Perman, Jr. (Carrie) of Holly Hill and Richard Perman (Lorena) of Daytona Beach; daughters Carolyn Kinsman of Lowellville, OH, Michele Kulakowski(Joe) of Holly Hill, Beth Mauch(Ken) of Hubbard, OH, Pamela Kerney(Jim) of New London, NC, Nancy Stitt of Gerard, OH, and Linda Carter(Fred) of Port Orange. She also had 19 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.

The Perman family would like to mention the outstanding care that Spruce Creek Assisted Living provided, "They truly treated Mom like a member of their own family".

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at The Basilica of St. Paul in Daytona Beach on Wednesday, August 27, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. A visitation will be held Tuesday evening, August 26, 2014 from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. at Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, 548 N. Nova Rd., Ormond Beach, FL. Burial will take place at Volusia Memorial Park following Mass on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the or Halifax Health- Hospice of Volusia/Flagler. Arrangements under the direction of Volusia Memorial Funeral Home, Ormond Beach, FL.
