BERT E. BAUTSCH, 93, died July 8, 2014. A native Houstonian, he was a life member of Bethel United Church of Christ, and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. Bert was a member of the Greatest Generation, having served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After his military service he returned to Houston to continue his work as a second generation builder, spending 42 years at Fretz Construction helping to build many churches, schools and hospitals in the city. BERT E. BAUTSCH, 93, died July 8, 2014. A native Houstonian, he was a life member of Bethel United Church of Christ, and will be remembered as a loving husband, father, Grandfather and Great-Grandfather. Bert was a member of the Greatest Generation, having served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. After his military service he returned to Houston to continue his work as a second generation builder, spending 42 years at Fretz Construction helping to build many churches, schools and hospitals in the city. Bert was married for 63 years to Mildred Jean Bautsch before her passing on November 19, 2007. He is survived by his daughter Becky Collins, husband Mickey; his sons Gregg Bautsch, wife Holly, and Tim Bautsch, wife Jane; his grandchildren Beth Pearson, husband Tommy, Craig Collins, wife April, Matt Bautsch, wife Tammy, Kendra Heusinkveld, husband Mark, Britney Fuller Anderson, husband Casey, and Chance Fuller; and his great-grandchildren Garrett Pearson, Breah Whitten, Mallory Bautsch, Maranda Bautsch, Braxton Bautsch, Campbell Heusinkveld, Ryan Heusinkveld, Raley Anderson and Reese Anderson.
The family would like to express our greatest appreciation to all of the caregivers who have helped over the years and to Houston Hospice.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 16, 6-8 pm and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 17, 10 am at Heights Funeral Home, 1317 Heights Blvd., Houston, TX 77008. Graveside services will follow at Woodlawn Garden of Memories, 1101 Antoine, Houston, TX 77055.
In lieu of customary remembrances, memorial contributions may be directed to Houston Hospice, 1905 Holcombe Blvd., Houston TX 77030-4123.
