Berta Scheig, age 87, of Spring Hill, Florida, died on Friday, March 27, 2015 at the HPH Hospice Care Center in Brooksville. Born in Dubach, Germany on April 2, 1927 to the late Ludwig Kocher and Maria (Silliman) Kocher. During the wars years, Berta became a Holocaust Survivor, and was raised in German Orphanages. Berta and her husband Edward came to Spring Hill, from many places around the US where she was a hostess and waitress, before retiring to Spring Hill 30 + years ago. Originally Berta came to the USA from Germany in 1953. Berta loved all forms of angels and was known as a real “Southern Lady”. Berta was preceded in death by her husband Edward in 1988. Berta is survived by her daughters Sandra J. Butz and Sharmane Kolie, Both of Spring Hill; FL. Berta was a very active member of the Holy Cross Lutheran Church, was a longtime member of the Jolly Friends and was an Usher in your younger years. She was well known for her love of Christian Music Especially the Song Amazing Grace, and the Old Rugged Cross. A Memorial Service will be held at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 6193 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, Fl., on Sunday, May 3, 2015 at 2 PM with Rev. Peter J. Morey officiating along with Sharmane Koile assisting. The funeral arrangements and cremations are entrusted to the Turner Funeral Homes, 14360 Spring Hill Drive, Spring Hill, Florida 34609. 352-796-9661..
