After her beloved sister, my nani, passed on, Dit became like a second grandma to me. I will always remember fondly our Yom Kippur break-fasts together, which were a yearly occurrence. It became a tradition to head to swampscott, and my mom would load up the car with kugels and all types of Jewish food. We huddled around Dit's kitchen table basking in each other's love.
I delighted in being able to bring my children to meet her. She doted on them just as my grandmother would have. I feel lucky that my children were able to speak to her on the phone just a few weeks ago.
I will surely miss her.
