Bessie Mae Buettner, 92, of Texarkana, TX passed away January 10, 2011 in a local nursing home. Mrs. Buettner was born July 23, 1918 in Redwater, TX. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church and a retired teacher's aid with the Texarkana Arkansas School District.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Rex Thomas Simmons, Sr. in 1971 and her daughter, Sandra Simmons in 1947.
Survivors include her husband, Fenton R. Buettner of Texarkana, TX; son and daughter-in-law, Rex Thomas Simmons, Jr. and Cindy A. Simmons of Texarkana, TX; grandson, Rex Thomas Simmons, III of Texarkana, TX; stepson, John Buettner of Longview, TX; and step grandsons, Brian Buettner and Brad Buettner both of Baton Rouge, LA.
Services will be 10 a.m., Friday, January 14, 2011 at East Memorial Chapel - Moores Lane with Dr. Barry Kolb officiating. Burial will be in Redwater Cemetery under the direction of East Funeral Home - Moores Lane.
Memorials may be made to First Lutheran Church, 4600 Texas Blvd., Texarkana, TX or Alzheimer's Alliance, 1105 College Drive, Texarkana, TX.
