Bethel Allen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 24, 2013.

Bethel I. Allen passed away at the age of 78 on Friday, December 20, 2013, in Salem, Oregon. Beth was born in Beatrice, Nebraska, and moved to the west coast, spending the last 50 years in the Salem area.

For many years, Beth warmed the hearts of others working at the Marriott Food Industry for the Salem School District. A devoted mother and grandmother, she kept her home filled with delicious baked goods and decorated for all the seasons. Beth was a fierce bingo competitor, Yahtzee winner, and avid camper. There was never a summer that passed without plenty of time spent fishing on Clear Lake, or fireside with her coffee and pups.

She is survived by her husband of 41 years Gerald, her four children Fred Van Zandt, Kevin Van Zandt, Debbie Hatch and Sandra Exline, four step children Robin Congdon, Chris Allen, Todd Allen and Dawn Schneider as well as her 20 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

A viewing for Beth will be held on Saturday December 28th from 10am to 12:45pm at Howell-Edwards-Doerksen with Rigdon-Ransom directors, with a funeral service starting at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Salem Cancer Institute through Salem Health.
