Betty Huffman Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 31, 2015.

Betty Huffman,

84, a retired elementary school teacher, died Wednesday, March 25th, 2015. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Ted Huffman; daughter Beth (Paul) Miller; son Paul (Robin) Huffman; and six grandchildren. Many people do not know that my mother spent two years in an orphanage before being adopted by John and Jane Jones. She grew up a preacher's daughter in the small town of Salem, Indiana. Mom went to Ball State Teacher's College and went on to teach elementary school in Logansport, Indiana. She got married in 1964 to Ted Huffman and she retired from teaching to become a "Mom". She resided in Griffith, Indiana from 1964 until 1984 when they retired and moved to Melbourne, Florida. Mom and Dad made many good friends in Florida and Mom really enjoyed square dancing with all of them. She was able to enjoy her grandkids, Joel and Erin, when they were younger as they lived very close. About six years ago, Mom and Dad moved back up to Indiana. Mom enjoyed spending time with her grandkids, Hayley, Alexis, Blake, and Mia. She loved to come and watch the kids waterski and loved watching Mia dance. She was called " Boo Boo Gramma" because of the scars on both knees from surgery. The kids will miss seeing her almost every day. Mom is in a better place than here which we celebrate with each of you. She faught very hard and never complain and always keep a smile on her face. Our tears today are for the joy we feel now that she has made her final journey to be with God and her loved ones again. We take comforrt in the fact that someday we will be together again.
Mom's last two devotionals she left bookmarked were:

What is your life? You are the mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes - James 4:14 (NIV)

My soul silently waits for God. . . . He only is my rock and my salvation. . . . Trust in Him at all times, you people. . . . Power belongs to God. Also to You, O Lord, belongs mercy.
-Psalm 62:1-2,8,11-12 (NKJV)

Family and Friends will gather at West Minster Village North on Friday April, 3 with a Celebration of Life Service at 4 pm. Services entrusted to Feeney-Hornak Keystone Mortuary. Condolences may be made at www.feeneyhornakkeystone.com

LURA Shannon

My name is Lura Shannon and my children, Dennis, Brenda and Kathy all had Mrs. Huffman in first grade - I felt my children and I were so priviledged to have Mrs. Huffman as a teacher. My son, Dennis who now lives in St. Petersburg, FL, wrote me a note about her passing yesterday and I was unable to come to her Celebration of Life. I do know this one thing that there are many precious children who were fortunate to have Mrs. Huffman as their first grade teacher and they often speak about her. My son Dennis is 57 years old and many in his gradeschool class still get together AND Mrs. Huffman is always remembered dearly. May God given you grace and mercy as you continue knowing that Mrs. Huffman left a loving and caring rememberance to many of her students. Praise God for His Gift of eternal life through our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Prayerfully, lura l. shannon
