Betty Sharp Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 15, 2016.

Betty J. Sharp, beloved wife, mom, and grandmother, passed away on Sept 14, 2016 in Colorado Springs, CO. She was 79 years old. She was born in Olathe, CO on Jan 27, 1937, the only child of Wilfred T. (Bill) Smith and Mary Ethel Fisher.

Betty grew up and attended school in Delta, CO and graduated from Delta High School in 1955. She was employed at Colorado Bank and Trust for 27 years when she retired to become Resident Managers of Dayton Place Retirement Home in Denver, CO along with her husband, Paul. Betty and Paul loved their time at Dayton Place and when they retired in 2001, they were loved and appreciated by both residents and staff. Betty hired and trained many employees who flourished under her patient guidance and sweet disposition.

Betty's joy in her life was first and foremost her family. She was a devoted wife who became her husband's constant companion after his gradual loss of eyesight and of late, Alzheimer's Disease. Betty was also an avid reader and enjoyed hand and machine embroidery and cross –stitch. Betty was church organist and pianist at First Baptist Church in Delta for many years. She played for countless weddings, funerals and accompanied many vocalists, starting when she was in the 8th grade.

Betty is survived by her husband of 59 years, Paul Sharp; loving daughters, Diane Folsom (Mark) of Longmont, CO and Trish Wilkerson (Don) of Colorado Springs, CO; five precious grandchildren, Karamie, Devin, Kinsey, Josiah and Isaiah; six beautiful great-grandchildren, Ayele, Kayden, Landen, Jacob, Ollie and Avery. She was deeply loved by her family and all who knew her. She was a gracious, gentle and sweet woman and showed kindness to all she met.

A graveside service will be held for Betty at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO, on Fri, Sept 23 at 9:15 am, staging area C . All are welcome to attend.
