Betty Jean Glass Doss

Betty Jean Glass Doss, 69, of Amherst, passed away Friday, April 22, 2011 at Lynchburg General Hospital. She was the devoted wife of Harry Lewis Doss, Sr. for fifty-one years.

Born October 20, 1941 in Lynchburg, she was the daughter of the late George Washington Glass and the late Blanche Peters Nunn.She was retired from the Central Virginia Training Center and was a member of Union Christian Church.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Doss is survived by a son, Harry L. Doss, Jr. and wife, Dabney of Amherst; one daughter, Cheryl D. Scott and husband, Edward of Madison Heights; one brother, George W. Glass, Jr. and wife, Diane of Meridian, Miss.; three grandchildren, Harry L. Doss, III and wife, Shannon, Brittney Gay Doss, and William Hunter Doss; two great-grandchildren, Logan Scott Doss and Kloie Alexis Rogers and a special niece, Angela D. Leuck and husband, Daryl and their children, Mason and Cole of Lovettsville.

A graveside service will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 26, 2011 at Presbyterian Cemetery with Pastor E.C. "Mac" McClintock officiating.

The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m., Monday, April 25, 2011 at Whitten Monelison Chapel and other times at the residence.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or Union Christian Church.
