Betty Pamela Patenaude, 83, of Keene, NH, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2014, at St Joseph's Hospital in Nashua, NH., following a period of failing health.

She was born on October 17, 1930, in Walkern, Hertfordshire, England, the daughter of Noah and Beatrice Florence (Canfield) Clements. Her father was the gardener for the Vicar. When the Vicar's parish changed to Fairford, Gloucestershire, England, the family relocated as well per request of the vicar to keep his gardener. There she attended and completed studies at Cirencester School.

On February 16, 1952 she married Norbert E. Patenaude, Jr, who was in the US Army stationed at Fairford AFB. In 1952, they returned to his home in Ashuelot, NH, eventually settling in Keene, in 1955.

She was employed at various companies in the Keene area over the last 50 years, including: OK Fairbanks Grocery, AE Martell & Co, MPB Corporation, and after her retirement; at HCS, and Residential Resources as a Home health aide. Nothing gave her more pleasure than as a home health aide as this allowed her to fully live her life purpose - in serving others. Everyone who met her recognized the patient, tolerant, nonjudgmental little lady who offered unconditional love and service.

She was an avid gardener, having learned from her father. She was a long-time active member of the Women of the Moose, involved in all fundraising and other activities.

She is survived by her children: Pamela Sayre and her husband Daniel of Nashua, NH; Timothy Patenaude, and his wife Stacey of Folsom California, and Gene Patenaude and his wife Diane of Whispering Pines, North Carolina; ten grandchildren: Stefanie Cutter and her husband, Patrick of Bruchmühlbach-Miesau, Germany; Stacey Meade of Shrewsbury, Mass, Scott Meade and his wife, Sarina of Keene, Sarah Patenaude of Greenville, NC, Danielle Marsolais and her husband, Michael of Watertown, NY, Kristen Elliot of Camarillo, CA., Gregory Patenaude, Curtis Patenaude and Thomas Patenaude of Folsom, CA., and Lisa Carlson and her husband, Keith of Nashua; seven great-grandchildren: Michelle, Samantha and Xavier Cutter of Germany, Skylar Meade of Vista, CA, Madeleine and Amelia Meade of Keene, and Lily Marsolais of Watertown, NY.; her sisters: Joan Sheffler and Primrose Croteau both of Keene, a step-brother: David Patenaude of Vero Beach, FL., and a step sister Linda Kendall of Marlow; a niece: Michelle Hill of Keene, has been a frequent companion. She is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was predeceased by her husband of 36 years, Norbert E. Patenaude Jr, who died on Nov. 25, 1988, to whom she remained devoted, and several step brothers and step sisters.

A brief graveside service will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 10:00AM at Monadnock View Cemetery, Park Avenue in Keene. Following the graveside, there will be a memorial service in the community room at Southwestern Community Services Housing For the Elderly, 49 Community Way, Keene, NH.
