Betty Voss Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 18, 2012.

Betty Jane Burnett Voss left this life on November 16, 2012 surrounded by her loving family. She was 88 years old.

Betty was born on November 8, 1924 to the late Fay & Sam Burnett. Her family participated in the land run of 1889 and her grandfather Roland Burnett served on Oklahoma City's first police force. She was a lifelong resident of Oklahoma.

She attended Lee School on Capitol Hill and graduated from Northeast High School. During World War II, she worked at Will Rogers Field in the payroll department.

After marrying the love of her life, the late J. Edward "Pat" Voss in December 1943, she devoted her life to raising their three daughters and assisted Pat in running the family dairy business in Edmond, OK. Betty & Pat were married for 53 years.

She was a devoted Christian and made her Church home at Quail Springs Baptist Church. She had been a long time member of Millwood Baptist Church where she played the piano for the congregation and taught Sunday school. Betty was a volunteer for many years at Baptist Hospital of Oklahoma City.

After Pat's death in 1996, Betty continued to live on their family's farm until 2010 when she moved to Touchmark at Coffee Creek.

Betty was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Ann Burnett; her husband, Pat Voss; her parents, Fay & Sam Burnett and her brother-in-law, Jack Hobgood.

She is survived by her children Judy Telford, and husband Joe; Dr. Barbara Voss-Alvarez, and husband, Jesse M. Alvarez, all of Edmond, Oklahoma and Martha J. Critchfield, and husband Roy of Troup, Texas.

She is also survived by her six grandchildren, Jeffrey Telford, and wife Linda;
Jenni Telford Stout, and husband Derek all of McKinney, Texas; Staff Sergeant Michael W. Levescy, and wife Christa, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Patrick D. Willis, and wife Dr. Sherilyn Willis, of Tyler, Texas; Amy Levescy and partner Lieutenant Kristin Polansky of Edmond, Oklahoma and Dr. Adam R. Critchfield of New York, New York.

She will be remembered by her thirteen great-grandchildren.

In addition, she is survived by her sister, Barbara Burnett Hobgood of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; her brother, Charles Edward "Bud" Burnett and wife, Jan of Norman, Oklahoma; her sisters-in-law Mary Louise Butts Clough and Gladys Voss of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Betty has many nieces, nephews, and friends who will remember her fondly.

The family would like to acknowledge the loving kindness provided to Betty from the health professionals at Centennial Hospice and Touchmark at Coffee Creek.

Viewing will be 9am to 8pm, Tuesday, at Memorial Park Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11am, Wednesday, November 22, 2012, at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel.

Beautiful and sweet Betty,
You are one of the most remarkable women I have ever known. It was such a joy to have you in my life for the year I got to spend with you on your beloved farm. I have many precious memories of you and sweet Heidi. And I loved hearing stories about your precious family, especially your true love. I praise God I get to see you again and meet your husband in Heaven where we will all be in our restored bodies praising our Beloved Savior!! Thank you for all of the blessings you bestowed upon me :)
