Betty Lucille Yukech
Our dear mother passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 3, 2013. She was born November 8, 1924 in Youngstown, Ohio to Ralph Brittain and Matilda Mackall Brittain. Betty resided in Northeast Ohio until her graduation from Woodrow Wilson H.S. in 1942. In 1944, she married Charles J. Yukech and traveled with him to WWII army bases until his deployment to Europe to fight in the Battle of the Bulge. Never one to sit around, she worked in machine shops for the war effort. After the war ended, they moved to Pomona in 1946 and later resided in Upland. After retirement, they moved to Casa Volante in Rancho Cucamonga where they had many happy years together until Chuck's death in 1984. Betty lived in the Upland area for over 55 years.
She was a member of the Upland First United Methodist Church, San Antonio Chapter - National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Round Table Club, Upland Travelers, and was Guardian of Bethel #287 of The International Order of Job's Daughters. For many years she was a homemaker, but she also worked as an independent tax preparer until retirement.
Betty is survived by three children - Helen (Robert) Sessions of Decatur, GA, Linda (Kevin) Brown for Placentia, CA, and Charles (Christine) Yukech of Mission Viejo, CA; two sisters - Helen Corletzi of Canfield, OH and Lois Fish of Lebanon, OH; six grandchildren, Ron, Alissa, Mary, Brent, Lauren and Kristen; two great-grandsons, Jackson and Charles; and many nieces & nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 11th, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM at Stone Funeral Home in Upland, with a private interment at Riverside National Cemetery.
She was a loving wife, mother, sister, and friend who will be dearly missed. It was her sincere wish that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Foundation, P.O. Box 871847, Kansas City, Missouri 64187 or at www.pkdcure.org since many family members have been afflicted with polycystic kidney disease.

To the family of Betty, I wish to send my thoughts of sorrow to you all. I only just found out that Betty had passed by getting a returned Christmas card from her last known address. Betty had become a friend over 40 years ago while doing our taxes in California. When we moved to Arizona, she continued to do our taxed until 2 years ago when she finally said that she just didn't want to do it any more. We kept in contact all through the years. We enjoyed Betty very much. She will be missed by all who knew her. I am sorry that I did not know about her passing before now. The best to all of her family and friends.

Mom, thanks for always being there for our family and friends. You were a wonderful example for us with your generosity and unselfishness. I hope that I was able to reciprocate those traits back to you at least in part. I am very fortunate to have been able to spend those final months and minutes with you. You are at peace now and with dad which I know will put a smile on your face. Love, Chuck
