Obituary

Bettyann grew up in Deerwood as a member of one of the first families in the neighborhood, where she attended Christ the King Grade School and Bishop Kenny High School. Alongside her cohorts, she paved the way for future generations of Deerwood youth. She earned her place as one of the original star swimmers of the Deerwood Swim Team, as well as a top equestrian contender. After many summers spent in North Carolina, she enrolled there at Brevard College and later transferred to the University of South Florida in Tampa. There she met her husband, Eric, who stayed by her side for the rest of her life.
After their marriage on September 1, 1984, Eric and Bettyann moved to New York City to pursue their shared passion for art. She attained her Masters in English Literature at New York University. After eight years spent exploring the arts and developing lifelong relationships, they returned to Florida in 1989 to be closer to her family. In Florida, her love for horses was rekindled. Bettyann reentered the world of competitive dressage, capably climbing the ranks throughout the Southeast. For her remaining decades, she devoted her time and love to her horses, her friends and her family. For those she touched, Bettyann's care for life of all ages and kinds was never matched. Her outgoing personality inspired friendships among all who knew her, and her constant smile left a lasting imprint on the many special memories they shared. She will be missed deeply and remembered warmly. We will Celebrate BettyAnn's life and all that she means to us with a visitation from six o'clock until eight o'clock in the evening on Friday, August 29, 2014 in Hardage-Giddens The Oaklawn Chapel located at 4801 San Jose Blvd., Jacksonville FL 32207. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at eleven o'clock in the morning on Saturday, August 30, 2014 in Assumption Catholic Church, located at 2403 Atlantic Blvd. Jacksonville, FL, with Father Michael Houle as Celebrant.
