Beulah Lorene Walker Applegate, 97, died January 15, 2013 surrounded by her family at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe. She was born in Lewis County, July 22, 1915 to the late Rufus Clinton and Matilda Jane Kennedy Walker. She was of the Christian faith and baptized a Methodist. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. During her life she worked at Hayswood Hospital doing private duty nursing for patients. She was a Kentucky Colonel enjoyed attending the Senior Citizens Group and was a RSVP Volunteer and was awarded the RSVP Volunteer of the Year two separate times. She enjoyed...
Beulah Lorene Walker Applegate, 97, died January 15, 2013 surrounded by her family at the Care Center at Kenton Pointe. She was born in Lewis County, July 22, 1915 to the late Rufus Clinton and Matilda Jane Kennedy Walker. She was of the Christian faith and baptized a Methodist. She loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. During her life she worked at Hayswood Hospital doing private duty nursing for patients. She was a Kentucky Colonel enjoyed attending the Senior Citizens Group and was a RSVP Volunteer and was awarded the RSVP Volunteer of the Year two separate times. She enjoyed sewing and quilting and loved her flowers and garden. She is survived by her sons T.B. (Mildred) Applegate of Tollesboro, Winfred Applegate of Mansfield, OH, Eugene (Sharon) Applegate of Portland, OR, and her daughters Eulane Bernzott of Advance, NC, Maxine Cropper of Mansfield, OH, Carol Foxworthy of Mt. Sterling, Bonnie Fulton of Maysville, and Bobbie (Chuck) Gutenson of Lexington also surviving is one sister Katherine Ward of Glendale, OR and her 16 grandchildren, Fran Applegate, Tammy Clapper, Mike Applegate, Jacquie Elgart, Tamara Applegate, Jeff Applegate, Allen Breeze, Jarrod Breeze, Jason Cropper, Alfred Bernzott, Lori Carol Fulton Brookbank, Sara Gutenson Monroe, Angie Foxworthy Gregory, and Andrea Foxworthy Myers, 20 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her former husband Toliver Bowman Applegate, Sr., son Frankie Lane Applegate and daughter Ann Breeze, sisters Isa Singleton, Edith Belle Walker, Anna Applegate, Lula Gill, Fannie Spence, Velva Sparks, Reeta Belle Grigson, and brothers Richard, Arnold, Marshall, and Orville Walker, son-in-law Jim Cropper and grandchildren Natasha and Zachary Gutenson. Funeral services for Beulah Applegate will be Saturday, January 19 at 11 A.M. at the Barbour Funeral Home with Dr. Charles E. Gutenson officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Alfred Bernzott, Jarrod Breeze, Allen Breeze, Mike Applegate, Jeff Applegate, Jason Cropper, Patrick Ryan Fryman and Donnie Brookbank. Burial will follow in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 5 until 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Hope, 909 Kenton Station Road, Maysville, KY 41056 and the Maysville Seniors Citizens, 115 ½ East Third Street, Maysville, KY 41056.
