On the morning of September 13, 2017, our beloved, wonderful mother and “Memere” peacefully went to heaven. We now have a special angel to watch over us forever.
“Miss Betty” was a devoted and loving wife to the late William August Michaelis, Jr. Mother of Kay “Missy” Michaelis Taylor (Barry) and Dr. William August Michaelis, III. (Leslie) and adored by her grandchildren: Molly Taylor, Sam Taylor, Shawn Taylor, John Michaelis, Elise Michaelis, and Reid Michaelis.
Beverly Marguerite Vigneaux Michaelis was a native New Orleanian, born on March 26, 1925 to the late Delia Bertus Vigneaux and Achilles Vigneaux. A graduate of St. Joseph’s Academy, Miss Betty worked as a bookkeeper at Interstate Electric and touched many lives during her years as Secretary to the Principal at Cabrini High School. Her strong faith, selfless service and charitable acts were examples to all. She implicitly trusted God’s plan for her life and had a lifelong devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus and Blessed Virgin Mary.
Miss Betty will be missed by all, but we are thankful for 92 years with her and celebrate her life and gifts, knowing that she is rejoicing with Our Lord, Jesus Christ. Her values, love and faith will live on forever in each of us.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 on Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2017 at Lakelawn Funeral Home, 5100 Ponchatrain Blvd. New Orleans, LA. Visitation from 10:00-12:00. Interment to follow at Hope Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Cabrini High School, Attn: Dori Orr, 1400 Moss St. New Orleans 70119.

We had the great pleasure to live next door to Miss Betty here in New Orleans for many years. She was like a Grandmother to my two children, Bryn and Tom. Easter baskets every year and always a special treat for holidays like Halloween. She was my "back fence" buddy. We enjoyed many a laugh discussing local politics and the Saints. She was one of a kind and Cheri and I will miss her and remember her fondly. We share your loss Billy and Missy, and grandkids, know that she loved you very much.

Missy and Billy,
Your Mom was a wonderful lady who brought joy to the lives of those who knew her. She maintained that phenomenal sense of humor through all those 92 years. Always enjoyed seeing her when growing up in Arabi with the DeBarbieris clan! You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
