The year was 1932 Amelia Earhart flew in record time from the U.S. to Northern Ireland, Comedian Jack Benny's radio show aired for the first time and Beverly Ann Blank was born in Eugene, Oregon on May 25th, the only child of Ralph and Ruby (Lindamood) Blank. The Blank family moved to Beaverton when Beverly was a little girl.

Bev knew hard work early on and it was during her high school years that she and her parents picked hops, berries, cucumbers and other crops to save up and purchase a family home, it took about 3 years but as a family they were very proud of this achievement. In addition to helping her parents purchase the family home, Bev worked part time at the Beaver Theater (now the Beaverton Bakery location) taking tickets for the movie shows. Active in her high school Cheer squad she met Bill Bernhardt, captain of their high school basketball team, it was a perfect match. The two became high school sweethearts, dated and were married on Sept 20, 1952in Norfolk, Virginia where Bill served in the Navy and was stationed . Upon Bill's honorable discharged he and Beverly returned to Washington County and lived in Beaverton and later moved to Aloha in 1963.

Bev enjoyed being a fulltime mom of her three children, Debbie, Scott and Skee. She was involved daily with her kid's activities and made sure they got to their sporting practices and school events. When Scott and Skee were young, Bill signed the boys up for Indian Guides. With this group, Bev and Bill bonded with several other families and lifelong friendships grew. Together, the families began camping and enjoyed fishing, boating, water skiing (Green Peter just being one of many fun destinations) and other hobbies included bowling in a league, pinochle and bunko.

In addition to being a full time mom, Bev worked part-time for many years as a secretary for the Marney Allen Insurance Company located in downtown Beaverton.

Bev earned the title "Casserole Queen" by her kids who remember the many dishes she made for them, the most memorable being her tamale pie casserole. Besides her casserole dishes, she could also whip up an amazing potato salad and her signature Crazy Cake was a real crowd pleaser.

After retirement Bev and Bill purchased a piece of property up in Longbeach Washington with the rest of their camping friends. As a community they built a beautiful area where they could all enjoy each other's company in their later years.
Only a few short years after both Bev and Bill retired; Bill became ill and passed away on October 10, 1994. It was a very difficult time for Bev readjusting her life after Bill's passing but she found comfort in the fellowship at Baptist Village Church. She attended church regularly and became a member of the ladies bible study group. Bev also found solace at her daughter Debbie's beach home in Ocean Park where she could get away and spend time with her sister in-law Tana.
Bev will be fondly remembered as a woman with a great sense of humor, always having the perfect broach to wear for any occasion and loving her family immensely.

She is survived by her three children, Debbie Bernhardt, Scott Bernhardt, Skee Bernhardt; great aunt, Gail Hurst; four grandchildren, Erin, Steven, Sammy, Anthony and two great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Lewis.

The family suggests contributions be made in Bev's name Hospice of Washington County.
Arrangements entrusted to Pegg, Paxson & Springer Funeral Chapel.

"I remember the rainy days playing ball in the "shed" at Merle Davies Grammar school from 5th grade on. We had many sleepovers and Bev was responsible for..." BETTY McBride (Fisher) (Santa Barbara,Ca)
