Beverly I. (Eldridge) McGee, age 78, of Lynn passed away at home surrounded by her loving family, Sunday March 2, 2014, after a long illness. She was the wife of the late Lynn District Fire Chief James J. McGee.
A life-long resident of Lynn, Beverly was born January 6, 1936. She was the daughter of the late Velma (Spaulding) Eldridge. Beverly worked as a cafeteria aide for the Lynn School Department for many years until her retirement. She was active in Pop Warner Cheerleading, Lynn Boys and Girl Scouts Little League, the VFW Post 507 for over 40 years, served as a past president. Beverly was also very active in Cancer fund raisers and also volunteered her time for the Chelsea Soldiers Home.
In addition to her late husband, Beverly is survived by her children, Donald McGee and his wife Cindy of Georgia, Judith Harvey and her husband Martin of South Carolina, and Jeanne Emanuel of Lynn. She was the Grandmother to Melissa, Michelle, Matthew, Sarah, Brian, Tony, Donna, and Bonnie. Beverly was the Great Grandmother to Dezirea, Alexis, Rylee, Felicity, Duke, Mackenzie, Aryn, Jameson, and Kacey. She was also survived by her 8 Great Grand Animals. Beverly was the sister to the late Harold Eldridge, Charles Eldridge, Russell Eldridge, Richard Eldridge, Phyllis Cheever, Dorothy Whitaker, and Mildred Hussey. Beverly was also survived by several nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside service will be held on Wednesday March 5, 2014 at 1:00pm at Pine Grove Cemetery 145 Boston St. Lynn, MA.Arrangements under the direction of Cuffe-McGinn Funeral Home, Lynn, MA.
