Mr. Mooningham was the last teacher I had during my Masters program at MTSU and one of the best teachers I had the privilege of knowing. In addition to being a great teacher, Mr. Mooningham was a very kind and generous person. He will be greatly missed.

My condolences to Bill's family and friends.
Bill was a exceptional professional and an even better person. I worked for Bill during the first four years of my career and he had a tremendous impact on my development. He taught me to be calm under pressure and maintain a sense of humor in the most stressful circumstances.
I vividly remember a number of drives to clients throughout TN, where we would have time to talk about work and life in general. He once told me that nothing at work was "life and death" and that his calmness came from his earlier experiences of having bullets whistling by his head while serving his country in Vietnam.
Bill was "one of a kind". He will be missed by all that he influenced and inspired.

To the family of "Billy" Mooningham... His immediate family, Joanne and Don Taylor and Jackie Mooningham:
I was in school with Billy for 12 years and he was a great friend ..... At school and on our school bus saving seats. He was a very intelligent and thoughtful person. He served his country and fought valiantly in Vietnam, wounded and received the Purple Heart. We didn't see each other very often in our adult years but when we did it was like we just saw each other the day before.
It is so sad that this horrible cancer took his young active life so quickly.
To his family: I was not able to come to visitation or his service but I have thought of nothing else this evening. I wish you the very best in the coming days and weeks. May GOD wrap His arms around you all and cradle you in His comfort. Every time I hear an Elvis song, shop for penny loafers, and pet my granddaughter's Russian blue cat, I will think of and miss a special life long friend! Much love to you all!

Linda and family,
Bill will be greatly missed at MTSU. He was always a joy to work with. We shared many stories about growing up in rural middle Tennessee-Bell Buckle and Lewisburg. MTSU students highly respected Billy and enjoyed his classes. Not many people would retire from one job and take on another one with MTSU the way Bill did. He was definitely a hard worker. The scholarship you all created has already helped several deserving students.Sorry for your loss.

Although I haven't seen Billy in close to 50 years, he was always a special person. My family and I lived down Minkslide Road from his family. Billy helped us in the hay field every summer and we always had a great time. He was such a sweet young man. He will be missed.

Bill was a great man in every way. Those of us in the Jones College of Business at MTSU will always remember his love for the university and the valuable training and guidance he provided to hundreds of students over the years. We share the sorrow that Bill's family and friends bear, but we are also thankful that we were able to be a part of his life.
