BILL M. STEVENSON Bill M. Stevenson of Odessa passed away Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Sienna Nursing Home. He was born March 2, 1921 in Bokchito, Oklahoma to Grace & Bedford Stevenson. He joined the Army and proudly served his country as a U.S. Army Air Corp Pilot from 1940 – 1946, and was a member of the Air Reserve until 1957. On December 27, 1943 he married LaVerne Carter in New Orleans, LA and eventually settled in Odessa to raise their family. Bill was employed by Phillips Pipeline Company for 38 years and retired in 1984, after which he and his wife traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and overseas. He was a long time...

Bill M. Stevenson of Odessa passed away Sunday, February 13, 2011 at Sienna Nursing Home. He was born March 2, 1921 in Bokchito, Oklahoma to Grace & Bedford Stevenson. He joined the Army and proudly served his country as a U.S. Army Air Corp Pilot from 1940 – 1946, and was a member of the Air Reserve until 1957.
On December 27, 1943 he married LaVerne Carter in New Orleans, LA and eventually settled in Odessa to raise their family. Bill was employed by Phillips Pipeline Company for 38 years and retired in 1984, after which he and his wife traveled extensively throughout the U.S. and overseas.
He was a long time member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as an Elder & Deacon and also a member of the Presbyterian Men's Group. He was a Master Mason of the H.A. McFarland Lodge #1338 of Odessa, a 32nd Degree KCCH of El Paso Scottish Rite Bodies where he was a member for over 50 years and past Chairman of Class Registration.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Grace & Bedford Stevenson and brother, B.B. Stevenson.
He is survived by his wife, LaVerne Stevenson of Odessa, daughters, Michele Rinker of Odessa & D.D. Green & husband Ban of New Iberia, LA, grandchildren, Bill Stebritz of Mt Vernon, OH, Stephanie Robinson & husband Heath of Grand Prairie, TX, Steven Polk of Baton Rouge, LA and Lisa Polk of New Iberia, La, great-grandchildren, Isaac, Zack & Andrew O'mata of Grand Prairie, brother, Dr. Harold "Steve" Stevenson & wife Wanda of Kingsland, TX , niece, Ann Stevenson Dumont & husband Pete of Cortez, CO, & cousin, Sam Holloman & wife T. J. of Brackettville, TX.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 16, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church.
In lieu of flowers Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or the Scottish Rite Children's Hospital in Dallas.
The family would like to give special thanks to Home Hospice & the staff at Sienna Nursing Home for all their wonderful care.
