William "Bill" Lewis Wells, 88, passed away Thursday, August 2, 2012, at a local nursing facility. A graveside service will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2012, in Hamlin Cemetery, Hamlin, Texas, with James Brigham officiating, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory, Abilene. Bill was born on October 25, 1923 to Lewis Thomas Wells and Anna Belle Wenetschlaeger Wells in McCauley, Texas. Bill was born on October 25, 1923 to Lewis Thomas Wells and Anna Belle Wenetschlaeger Wells in McCauley, Texas. He proudly served his country during WWII as a member of the United States Coast Guard with the rank of Seaman First Class. Bill married Louise Durham Wells. He was employed at Loftis Construction as a supervisor in Charlotte, North Carolina for 30 years. They moved to Abilene, Texas in 1990. Bill was a member of the York Rite Masons.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Louise Wells (1997); and his brother, Joe Cecil Wells.
Survivors include his brother, Raymond D. Wells and wife, Connie, of Oak Point, Texas and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
