Billie Lee Burk, 81, Nashville, passed away at the Brown County Health and Living Community on July 4th. He was born December 28, 1930 in Columbus, IN. to Walter and Mary E. (Stader) Burk. They preceded him in death. Billie, a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1951 – 1954, previously worked as a supervisor at I.U. in the Mail Room. Billie loved fishing and was a 50 year member of the Nashville Masonic Lodge. Billie, a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving from 1951 – 1954, previously worked as a supervisor at I.U. in the Mail Room.
Billie loved fishing and was a 50 year member of the Nashville Masonic Lodge.
Survivors include his sister, Peggy Sue Burk-Hennig, Columbus, Indiana, aunt, Betty Stader, Hope, Indiana, sisters-in-law, Joan (Jack) Riser, Greenwood, Indiana, Mary Lee Dooley, Cincinnati, OH, Pat Bond, Nashville, Indiana, Phyllis (Bill) Wren, Westport, Indiana, Beulah Austin, Nashville, Indiana, brother-in-law, Phillip Austin, Columbus, Indiana as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Billie was preceded in death by his wife Martha Jane in 1999.
A funeral service will be conducted at Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home Monday July 9th at 11:00 A.M. with Rev. James Hughes officiating; burial with military honors by the Brown County Honor Guard will follow at Brown County Memorial Park. The family will receive visitors on Sunday July 8th from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorial contributions may be made to; either Nashville Masonic Lodge or Greenwood Wesleyan Church, 198 N. Emerson, Greenwood, Indiana 46143
