Billy B. Turnbough, 79, of Mayflower, Arkansas, died Thursday, March 26, 2015. He was born September 3, 1935, in Viburnum, Missouri, a son of the late Earnest and Murl (Dunlap) Turnbough. He was also preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
Billy was a member of the Baptist faith. He was a 32nd degree Mason, and a member of the Salem #225 Lodge, in Missouri. He was also a veteran of the United States Air Force and a retired Federal Mine Inspector.
Billy was a huge Cardinals Baseball fan and loved the Arkansas Razorbacks. Another favorite hobby was fishing and when asked by a judge where he caught all those fish, he replied with a gesture through his lip and said “in his upper lip.” This was the kind of humor Billy was known for throughout his family and friends and has passed it on through his sons.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Betty Turnbough of Mayflower; his sons, Jeff and wife Linda of Greenbrier; Doug and wife Renea of Beebe; Billy and wife Kathy of Conway; and Tim Turnbough of Mayflower. He is also survived by brothers, Jim Turnbough of Viburnum, Missouri; Edward Dunlap of Boss, Missouri; eight grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren as well as a host of nephews and nieces.
Visitation will be 2:00pm until 4:00pm, Sunday, March 29, 2015, at Griffin Leggett Conway. The visitation will close with Masonic Funeral Honors presented by Green Grove Lodge #107, on behalf of his home lodge, Salem #225. Graveside service will be 2:30pm, Monday, at Round Mountain Cemetery, with his sons, Jeff, Doug, Billy and Tim; grandson Nathan Turnbough; and Chris Davis serving as pallbearers. To all of the family, it is with sorrow to hear of the death of Billy Bob, a person that I have known all of my life. I have been honored to have known all of his family for many years, home folks and kinfolks. I am sorry that I cannot be there but I am thinking of you. The Lord bless and comfort each of you.
