Billy R. Cox, age 69, a life-long resident of Pensacola, Florida, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017. Billy was born in Brooklyn, Alabama and moved to Pensacola soon after being born. Billy was a Staff Sergeant in 101st Air Borne of the United States Army. He was in the military for 11 years before being discharged for medical issues with his kidneys. Billy served a tour in Vietnam and one in Korea. He spent the rest of his work life as a Mechanic and Electrician in the Heating and Air Industry. Billy was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church. His hobbies were fishing, hunting, and fixing anything that was broke.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Cox, Odie Lee Cox, and his wife of 40 years Evie C. Cox.
He leaves behind his son Thomas and wife Lorrie Cox; Brother Danny (Janice) Cox; Sister Brenda "Sue" (Nick) Carter; 5 Grandchildren Taylor Ann (Caleb Scott) Downing, Scarlet K. Ogo, Thomas W.M. Cox, Timothy J.R. Cox, 3 Great Grandchildren Jackson Elaine Downing, Thomas Wade Rembert, and John Mark Downing II; and nieces and nephews, Nicholas, Laura, Christina, and Emma Carter; Conni, Jay, and Alexis Coleman, Lyndsi Carter; Seann, Ellery, and Aiden Cox; Keely, Ronnie, Cody, and Courtney Mosley.
Visitation will be Friday, October 6, 2017 from 6-8 p.m. at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Funeral service will Saturday, October 7, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Oak Lawn Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Cedar Creek Cemetery, Castleberry, Alabama, at 1:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Charles Medlock, Ronnie Mosley, Caleb Downing, Nicholas Carter, Thomas Cox, and Timothy Cox.

Billy was the kindest man I have ever met. He was a man of few words but had a big heart! I am so sorry to hear of his passing. You try to find comfort in the fact that his earthly body now has Eternal Life and Health. For those left behind the hole in your heart is ever so real!
Just read this today, so sorry we missed his Good bye!

Billy was my 1st cousin and I am very sorry for his death. I know he is in a better place and not suffering any more. Condolences to his family members as he was a treasure.
