Billy Wayne Abernathy, 58, passed away on Sunday, May 8, 2011 in a local hospital.
He was of the Baptist Faith. He worked as an Electrician for IBEW Local 861 and served in the U.S. Navy during Vietnam.
He is survived by his mother, Dorothy Abernathy of Lake Charles; daughters, Shelly Abernathy of Plano, TX and Rachel Abernathy of Plano, TX; brothers, Robert Abernathy Jr. of Lake Charles and Homer Abernathy of Lake Charles as well as one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Abernathy Sr.
His funeral will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Hixson Funeral Home of Lake Charles. Rev. John Wamsley will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. Visitation was Tuesday evening at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. and resumed today at 8 a.m. Visitation will continue until the time of service.

I had no idea that Bill had passed away...I missed his funeral by 1 day...My heart is broken...I am so sorry for your loss...I know that there where some ruff patches along the way of our friendship but I still considered him a friend and of course will always be my Brother-In-Law...I love you Bill and you will be dearly missed.
