JAN YOUNG LONG
MARY AND FAMILY,
I WAS SHOCKED TO HEAR ABOUT BILLY JACK. I DIDN'T EVEN KNOW HE WAS ILL. I HAVE BEEN OUT OF TOWN SO I MISSED HIS FUNERAL. I AM SO SORRY, I WOULD HAVE BEEN THERE. BILLY JACK WAS MY ALL-TIME FAVORITE COACH, EVERYTIME I SAW HIM, WE WERE RELIVING A TENNIS TOURNAMENT. HE ALWAYS SAID I PLAYED BETTER AS LONG AS HE WAS SMOKING HIS PIPE! I WILL ALWAYS REMEMBER HIS CHEERY ATTITUDE. HE WAS ALWAYS SO POSITIVE, IT MADE ME FEEL LIKE I COULD DO ANYTHING. I WILL MISS HIM VERY MUCH.
ALWAYS, JAN YOUNG LONG

Coach Adams was always one of the teachers I had fond memories of. When I was in his class, I worked a little harder than in some of my other classes because I thought he was a pretty demanding teacher. The next summer, he told my parents I could have gotten away with a lot in his class & never did. If I had just known I wouldn't have put out as much effort! He was always so full of life & an all around great guy. I know he will be truly missed. My thoughts & prayers are with his family.

Billy Jack is one of my favorite memories of Marlin. I will never forget swapping sea stories from the Navy or looking out on the dance floor to see him when I played in the different dance bands. I was also proud to call him a Brother Mason and Shriner.

Mary we share in your grief. We'll all miss Bill but take joy in having shared some of life's moments with him. As a youngster he was an inspiration to me along with all those brothers, cousins, and other kin who went off to war to protect us all and our way of life. But it didn't end with the war as Bill went on to suceed in his endeavors bringing pride to our family. He was a mentor to many and a positive influence to those who came to know him. He will indeed be sorely missed by all of us.
Love, Jim and Shirley Trewitt

Selma & I regret that we will not be able to attend the funeral. Billy Jack & I were together on the Shankle Farm @ North Prairie community and went to North Prairie school together for a couple of years. We were together on many occasions growing up. We joined the Navy together. No cousin of mine was ever so close to me. I will miss getting to visit with him on my trips to Texas.
All of you will be in our prayers as you adjust to such a tremendeous loss. May God's Grace be sufficient for you at this time.

Mr. Adams was one of the finest people who ever lived. His greatness and influence are reflected by his wonderful family, of whom he was so proud. Had it not been for Mr. Adams (and Dick Severson and Guy Garrett Jr.), I would never have become an Eagle Scout. He encouraged and helped me (and myriads of other people) in so many ways. My condolences and prayers go out to his family.
