We are celebrating the new body that Bobby Noel Coker, 69 of Colbert received on August 22, 2014. Born in Athens, he was the son of the late Noah and Doris Roberts Coker and was also preceded in death by a grandson, Patrick Coker. Bobby served in the US Army from 1963-1973 as a staff sergeant and was stationed in Korea, Vietnam and Germany. He was a retired Clarke County Deputy Sheriff and had served his local community in Madison County as a volunteer with the Madison County Fire Department, Madison County Emergency Medical Services and also served as a Madison County Deputy Sheriff. Born in Athens, he was the son of the late Noah and Doris Roberts Coker and was also preceded in death by a grandson, Patrick Coker. Bobby served in the US Army from 1963-1973 as a staff sergeant and was stationed in Korea, Vietnam and Germany. He was a retired Clarke County Deputy Sheriff and had served his local community in Madison County as a volunteer with the Madison County Fire Department, Madison County Emergency Medical Services and also served as a Madison County Deputy Sheriff. Bobby was a member of the New Beginnings Worship Center.
Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Sara Coker, two daughters Jennifer West and husband David of Danielsville and Teresa Patton and husband Steve of Colbert, three grandsons Jacob and Taylor West and Zac Patton; one granddaughter Zoe Patton; sisters Vicky Daniel and husband Carlton of Oconee County, Brenda Gurley and husband Frank of Colbert, and Tammy Hughes of Navarra, FL; one brother Dennis Coker and wife Beth of Colbert. Many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be 11AM Tuesday, Aug 26, 2014 at the chapel of Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev. Beverly Barker officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends at Bernstein from 6-8pm on Monday evening.
Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to the Madison Oglethorpe Animal Shelter, 1888 Colbert Danielsville Rd., Danielsville, Georgia 30633.
