Bobby Franklin Simpson age 83 of Bertram passed away Friday, March 30, 2012. He was born April 8, 1928, in Leander to Reverend Denton Elvin Simpson and Elvie Vera Simpson. Bobby grew up in and around Leander and spent his youth working and being around farms that his parents and grandparents had. Bobby was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp and later the U.S. Air Force. He served during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Guam during his time in the service. Bobby Franklin Simpson age 83 of Bertram passed away Friday, March 30, 2012. He was born April 8, 1928, in Leander to Reverend Denton Elvin Simpson and Elvie Vera Simpson. Bobby grew up in and around Leander and spent his youth working and being around farms that his parents and grandparents had.

Bobby was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corp and later the U.S. Air Force. He served during the Korean Conflict and was stationed in Guam during his time in the service. He was appointed a Police Cadet with the Austin Police Department April 13, 1962, and commissioned an Officer September 21, 1962. During his career he was eventually assigned to Centralized Investigations and was a Lieutenant when he retired on December 30, 1983. During the latter part of his career he was involved with and served on the first local five county Organized Crime Unit. After his retirement from the APD, Bobby worked with the Burnet Sheriff Department and enjoyed traveling and spending time working on his place. He loved Bluegrass music and enjoyed playing it on instruments that he built and played. Bobby was a Master Mason and Past Master of the Masonic Lodges in Bertram and Lake Victor. He was also a member and Deacon of the First Baptist Church in Bertram.

Survivors include his wife Gladys, son Denton Lynn Simpson and wife Fay P. Simpson of Round Rock and daughter Diane L. Williams and husband Errol of Lampasas. Also surviving are granddaughters Allison Ehrman and husband Steve of Maryland and Adria Williams and husband Robert of Washington State; great grandchildren Joel and Ian Tokarchik of Maryland and Tristen Williams, Robert E. Williams and Erika Williams of Washington. Bobby is also survived by three sisters Judy Luker of Victoria, Jane Dunham of Refugio, and Dorothy Feuerbacher of Georgetown. Bobby was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.

Visitation will be from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home with Reverend Gordon Bergstrom officiating. Interment will follow at Bear Creek Cemetery in Bertram. Those named as pallbearers were Philip Boring, Billy Evans, Jerry Boatright, Ken Polk, Bill Coker, Robert Williams and Steve Ehrman. Honorary pallbearer named was Don Bryant. For choosing to do so, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Bertram.
