Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel of Memories with Dr. Hal Rogers officiating.

Entombment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery East Mausoleum by Memorial Park Funeral Home, 6969 I-40 East.

VISITATION: Friday, September 20, 2013 5-8 pm at the funeral home.

Bobby was born July 24, 1930 to Oscar and Bea Staton on his grandfather's farm 6 miles NE of Hollis, OK. He attended schools in Arnett, Westview and then graduated in 1948 from Vinson High School near Hollis. While in High School Bobby played baseball, basketball and drove a school bus. After graduation he attended Southwestern State College in Weatherford, OK. In 1950 Mr. Staton moved to Amarillo and went to work for J.C. Penney as a salesman in the men's department. In March 1951 he met Betty Sherrill downtown on Polk Street on a Sunday night after she had attended choir practice. The two were cruising Polk street with friends and the girls were invited to the Double Dip Drive-In for a Coke. They were married July 1, 1951. On December 19, 1951 Bobby joined the Marines and was discharged December 4, 1953. Mr. Staton returned to Amarillo and went to work for Plains Creamery as a milkman for 18 months, then joined Motors Insurance Corp. as an adjuster and later as a special agent. After 32 years with Motors Insurance he transferred to GMAC as a sales supervisor for 6 months then retired in May 1988. He then began storm trouping as an adjuster and joined General Motors Auction Department in 1989 as a sales coordinator out of Detroit, Michigan working the GM auctions in Amarillo, Albuquerque, Oklahoma city and Tucson. After leaving this position, he became a car buyer for some of the local GM dealers in the Amarillo area. In 2003 he retired and spent time caring for his wife from January 2003 until she passed away October 13. 2006. Bobby has been a member of the Pleasant Valley Christian Church since 1960 and served as a Deacon and an Elder. The family wishes to express thanks to BSA Hospice and Robin Smith and a special thank you to Emily Batson.

Bobby was preceded in death by his parents; his loving wife of 55 years, Betty; a daughter, Debra Jean Haddox; and 2 grandsons, Chris Parker and David Haddox.

Bobby is survived by a daughter, Jan Littlehales and husband Tom; a granddaughter, Julie Wilson and husband Brad; a grandson, Bobby Haddox; a great-grandson, Joseph Ynojosa; a great-granddaughter, Joie Parker; a brother, Donald and wife Glenda; and a sister, Beva Jean Bufkin.

In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorials be sent to Pleasant Valley Christian Church. 327 East Central, Amarillo 79108
