Bodhan Bortnyk, 93, of Toms River, NJ passed into eternal rest on Thursday August 7, 2014. He was born in the village of Nevychi, Ukraine. He met and married his wife Halyna in Germany and they came to the United States in 1950. Bohdan and his family were parishioners of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Church in Newark, NJ and St. Stephen Ukrainian Church in Toms River, NJ. He was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Stephen's and the Ukrainian-American Club of Ocean County, Inc. Bohdan was predeceased by his wife Halyna in 2005.. Bodhan Bortnyk, 93, of Toms River, NJ passed into eternal rest on Thursday August 7, 2014. He was born in the village of Nevychi, Ukraine. He met and married his wife Halyna in Germany and they came to the United States in 1950. Bohdan and his family were parishioners of St. John the Baptist Ukrainian Church in Newark, NJ and St. Stephen Ukrainian Church in Toms River, NJ. Bohdan was predeceased by his wife Halyna in 2005.. He is survived by his son John, wife Irene and his grandchildren Andrew and Christine Bortnyk; by his son Orest Bortnyk, by his daughter Maria Kucyna and her husband Orest as well as family in Ukraine and Poland.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday August 10, 2014 from 2 to 5 PM at Quinn-Hopping Funeral Home 26 Mule Road Toms River, NJ 08755. Parastas will be at 4:00 PM. A Divine Liturgy will be celebrated at St. Stephen's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Toms River on Monday August 11th at 10:00 AM. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Toms River. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made to St. Stephen Ukrainian Catholic Church Building Fund, 1344 White Oak Bottom Road, Toms River, NJ 08755.
