Bonnie Billington Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jan. 24, 2012.

Billington, Bonnie Jean (Barker), age 80, passed away Sunday evening, January 22, 2012. Bonnie was born on August 22, 1931 in LaCross, WI to parents, Edwin Boyd Barker and Marion McGinnis Barker whom preceded her in death. Bonnie was also preceded in death by her husband, Lester C. Billington and her two sons, Mark Lee and Christopher John, sister, Rita Brown and brother, Jerome Wicks. Bonnie is survived by her family to whom she loved and dedicated her life to: Son and daughter-in-law, Bradley and Sue Billington of MN; daughter and son-in-law, Renee and Earle Woolley of MN; son and daughter-in-law, Stephen and Joanne Billington of MN; daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and David Ferguson of Knoxville; daughter-in-law, Barb Billington Nasby. Grandchildren: Leisa Hase, Lisa Gandrud, Lauren Elizabeth Ferguson, Nicholas Smalley, Shane, Brandon and Tony Billington. Great Grandchildren: Isabella and Isaiah Gandrud, Landon, Addison and Baby Peyton Smalley. Bonnie also leaves behind her younger brother and sister-in-law, Douglas and Emelyn Barker of AZ. Bonnie raised her children in her faith in God. She brought lots of laughs and smiles with her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. Bonnie moved to Knoxville in 1973 where she finished raising her children. She worked retail for many years until retiring from Target Corp. Bonnie and her husband enjoyed many years of travel, visiting family and seeing the country. She enjoyed the water most of all, growing up in Perham, MN and living on Little Pine Lake until moving to TN. After losing her second child, Christopher, Bonnie suffered a stroke. She will be remembered for her loving, giving spirit and helping others. She will be sorely missed by her family, friends and neighbors. Bonnie was a loving and dedicated mother who raised six children she was proud of. Saying goodbye to her is not easy but we will take comfort knowing she is with her loved ones whom she missed so much after their passing. The family will receive friends from 10:30-11:30am, Friday, January 27, 2012 at Sherwood Chapel in Alcoa. The funeral service will begin at 11:30am. Interment will follow in Sherwood Memorial Gardens. Condolences may be offered at www.sherwoodchapel.net

Mom, thinking of you a lot lately. Christmas was always your favorite holiday and you always did a great job of decorating and baking. You made everyone's Christmas special. I have lots and lots of great memories full of that 'warm fuzzy feeling' of Christmas, because of you. Thank you, Love and miss you. Renee

Every morning when my Mom or "Nana", woke up, she took time to pray to God. She would ask Him for help & strength to get through the day, she would pray for the people she loved, & ask Him to help her to do the right thing each day, thanked Him for His blessings, & reaffirmed her belief in Him.
This note is for dear sweet Lauren, your Nana will always be with you. I know she can't physically be here, but she loved you so much and that love never ends. I know you miss her and the way she cared for you. It helps to talk about things that bother you and the bad things that happen to you. You are such a good person. You are not alone.
A lot of people love you and care about your feelings.
When ever I feel lost,
hurt, confused and scared, I talk to God. He always listens & takes care of me. It may not always be the way I expect or want, but when I look back on things...He gives me what I need to keep going.
I pray for you EVERY morning, that God protects you & keeps you safe, that you are happy, & healthy, and that He gives you comfort & strength to get through your day.
We love you & miss you.
You hold my heart,
Aunt Renee

I worked with Bonnie at Target when I was in college and she was the sweetest lady and was like a second mom. As I later worked in television, I worked with Chris, and he was one of the funniest, kindest, people - no doubt thanks to his loving upbringing. Your family is in my thoughts.

Sandy, Sorry to hear about your Mom's passing. I hope it gives you comfort knowing she is at peace and that she is with your brothers and Dad now. Try to focus on the good memories of your family and not the trials of the last couple of years. My thoughts and prayers are with you. If there is anything that we can do for you please let us know. We miss having you guys next door. Shari

Sandy, I am very sorry to her about your Mom's passing. You've had a very difficult time the last couple of years, and my prayers are with you and your family. At least your Mom is at peace now and with your brothers and Dad; hopefully, that will give you some comfort. Know that Jesus loves you and is near at hand any time you need Him. I miss you, Lauren, and David as neighbors, but you'll always be in my heart.

Sandy: I didn't know your Mother very well, but I know you & I surely am glad I do. You are a true friend & a support to your family & friends. I know you will miss your Mom as you took over her care after Chris passed. You were a patient, ever caring, always available for her, daughter.
May God's blessings & His Peace that passes ALL understanding be with you, Dave, Lauren & the rest of your family
