I had the absolute pleasure of working with Brandon in the aid station while in Afghanistan last year. I remember one moment specifically when he and I worked together to save an Afghan Army Colonels' life while on the fob. He was one of a very few people that could keep me laughing, even in the hardest of times. I'm honored to have been friends with him.
Brandon, you will be missed. Rest easy, brother.

Ms. Flores and Mr. & Mrs. Bertolo, I and my family extend our deepest sympathies to all of you. While we never had the opportunity to meet Brandon, we heard so many wonderful stories about him through our daughter, and Brandon's "Army Battle", Kaitlyn. If the friendship and light that he provided in Kaitlyn's life is any indication of Brandon, I'm confident that you all were blessed with a very special, very loving son. Our hearts, thoughts and prayers are with all of you...

SPC Bertolo, I pray your soul rests in etenal peace. Your time here on earth was all too brief. You will always be a true American Hero to everyone and we can only say thanks for providing the freedoms we hold so dear. I pray your memory will sustain your family through their grief and that in time, the pain of losing you eases and that they remember you with love and laughter instead of tears and sadness. From this grateful American, THANKS for a job well done.
