Brant Arthur Rogers, 65, of Oak Harbor, Washington, passed away Sunday June 9, 2013 after a long-term illness and fighting to remain living independently while dealing with cancer. He was born on January 11, 1948 in Lansing, Michigan to Marion and Stanley Rogers. He lived his entire life in Michigan until December 2012 when he came to Oak Harbor to be near his daughter, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Brant was in the United States Navy and served honorably in Vietnam. He retired after working for twenty five years for General Motors. He was an artist and he also enjoyed fishing, riding his new scooter and being with his family.
He is survived by his two daughters, Dawn Alicia Kaskey and Maria Lynn Hazelo; grandchildren, Daniel Grant Kaskey, Dainton Lee Kaskey, Kristopher Alan Kaplan and Timothy Landon Hazelo; and one great grandchild, Dorian Vaan Hazelo. He is also survived by two brothers, Steven Rogers and Garreth Rogers. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Karen Austin and his grandson, Seldon Hazelo.
"When I am away from you, I really don't know what to do but when you are near, I have no fear and my gloom runs away. The light from your shining face turns the night into day. Then when you smile the clouds in the sky all go away. I really can't help the way I feel but every time I see your smiling face everything in my life takes its proper place. I don't know what else to say and hope to see you another day." --Brant A. Rogers
