Obituary

Brenda Avery was an amazing and loving woman. She was successful at whatever she set her mind to and always had a smile to accompany anything she did. She had a great sense of humor and it shined brightly through with the way she spoke and in the things that she did. She loved life, her family, her friends and God. She was the type of person who set aside her own needs to fulfill the dreams of a loved one. She was a heartfelt listener, an amazing cook and a skilled card-shark. She also loved all of her flowers and her gardens that she kept every year. She tended her flowers like she tended her family; with love, sincerity, and this deep...
She tended her flowers like she tended her family; with love, sincerity, and this deep sense of caring. With this, they bloomed and blossomed beautifully, just like her husband and daughter and anyone else she came in contact with
Brenda was the type of person who welcomed you with open arms, fed you whatever she was making for a meal and made sure you felt right at home, no matter who you were. I remember many times in my childhood of sitting in the kitchen floor, watching her cook and mutter to herself. She never kept a cookbook, except for the one in her head and it always amazed me at how delicious everything always was. With Brenda, "just a pinch" and "until it looks good" was her measurements. I don't have to express the frustration that was felt if someone attempted to duplicate a recipe of hers.
Brenda enjoyed being with her family and having her family around her. She enjoyed being a part of any party, get-together or celebration and she always brought some delicious dish like her banana pudding or her potato salad. Brenda never forgot to send a card for any holiday, birthday or anniversary; I know that I could always count on seeing a card in the mail from her. She was always there if you needed her, no matter the time or day or the occasion; even if it was just to talk.
She was the type of person who could set you straight with a look but comfort you with a hug that seemed to make everything right in the world. She always offered her shoulder to lean on and her ears for your words. She enjoyed vanilla milkshakes with extra cherries from Chick-fil-A and she watched the television shows Dancing with the Stars and Survivor devotedly. She was an amazing piece of our family puzzle that fit around everyone and not only complemented the other pieces, but she brought and kept everyone together. Although she has left us on this plane of existence, her presence will always be felt and dearly missed by all that knew her and loved her. She is in a wonderful place that we can only hope to go to after our time here on Earth is done, and when we do, we will see her again, waiting for us on the other side.

"I thank God for you being my sister in law for almost 47 years. We were more than sister in laws. You were a very special person to all who knew you. You..." Larry & Joan Avery (Riverdale, GA)
