Franks, Brian H. (Bill) died on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Ascension Oaks Nursing Home in Gonzales, Louisiana. He was born June 10, 1926 in Winnfield, Louisiana, and was a long-time resident of Baton Rouge. He retired from South Central Bell as a District Manager in Lake Charles, and was also responsible for negotiating and implementing the initial 911 system for the Baton Rouge area in the 1960's. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mildred Watson, two daughters, Karen Franks and Connie Summers, and son-in-law Donnie Summers, three grandchildren, Mike Stephenson and wife Carrie, Kyle LeMoine and wife Mary, and Blake LeMoine...
Franks, Brian H. (Bill) died on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Ascension Oaks Nursing Home in Gonzales, Louisiana. He was born June 10, 1926 in Winnfield, Louisiana, and was a long-time resident of Baton Rouge. He retired from South Central Bell as a District Manager in Lake Charles, and was also responsible for negotiating and implementing the initial 911 system for the Baton Rouge area in the 1960's. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Mildred Watson, two daughters, Karen Franks and Connie Summers, and son-in-law Donnie Summers, three grandchildren, Mike Stephenson and wife Carrie, Kyle LeMoine and wife Mary, and Blake LeMoine and wife Shea, and five great-grandchildren, Madison LeMoine, Cassidy Stephenson, Jett LeMoine, Blakely LeMoine and Aspen LeMoine. He was preceded in death by parents, Jerry and Katie Vaughan Franks, brother, Lonnie, and two sisters, Marie Neese and Merle Blair. He was a member of numerous affiliations, including Parkview Baptist Church, Trinity Masonic Lodge and was Past Master of Capitol Lodge, and past President of the Sulphur Rotary Club. He was a member and past President of the Capitol Life Member Council, Telephone Pioneers of America, and a board member of West Calcasieu Chamber of Commerce. He was a proud U.S. Marine veteran, 6th Marine Division, having served in the South Pacific during WWII, and again in Korea. He was also a member of the American Legion Post 38, and VFW Post 3784. Visitation will be at 12:00 pm, Monday, April 7 at Greenoaks Funeral Home with a Masonic Service at 1:00pm, followed by the Funeral Service at 2:00 pm, officiated by Bro. Merlin Liverman of Parkview Baptist Church. Interment with Military Honors will be at Greenoaks Memorial Park after the Funeral Service.
