Obituary

Brian R. Homer, 69 Brian Homer passed away at home on February 28, 2014 with his family by his side. Born May 31, 1944 he was the youngest son of Gorham and Marguerite Homer. Brian is survived by his children, Matthew and Megan Homer of Yarmouth and his brother Barry Homer of South Yarmouth and Fort Myers Beach, FL. He is predeceased by his wife, Margery Baxter (Chase) Homer, his brothers Parker Homer and Peter Homer and his parents Gorham and Marguerite (Baker) Homer. Brian Homer passed away at home on February 28, 2014 with his family by his side.

Born May 31, 1944 he was the youngest son of Gorham and Marguerite Homer.

Brian is survived by his children, Matthew and Megan Homer of Yarmouth and his brother Barry Homer of South Yarmouth and Fort Myers Beach, FL. He is predeceased by his wife, Margery Baxter (Chase) Homer, his brothers Parker Homer and Peter Homer and his parents Gorham and Marguerite (Baker) Homer. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews and life long friends.

Brian graduated from Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School in 1962. Brian was a member of the Navy Reserve from 1962 through 1968.

In 1969, Brian married his high school sweetheart, Margery Chase. They were married for 39 years and lived in West Yarmouth where they raised their two children.

Brian along with his brothers and mother owned and operated Homer Brothers Trash Removal in South Yarmouth from 1961 until 1972 when the company merged with BFI as the Homer Brothers Division. In 1988 Brian received the "Million Mile" recognition award from the National Safety Council for driving one million miles in his work truck without a preventable accident.

Brian was well known for his smile, his kindness, hard work and his commitment to his family. He had a knack for small engine repair and a notable green thumb in his vegetable garden. He enjoyed boating on Bass River and antique car shows.

Calling hours will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2014 at Doane, Beal and Ames Funeral Home in South Dennis from 9:00-10:30am with a memorial service to follow at 11:00 am.

In lieu of flowers, donations in the memory of Brian can be made to Yarmouth Fire and Rescue at 96 Old Main Street in South Yarmouth, 02664 or VNA Hospice and Palliative Care at 434 Route 134 Unit G-1 in South Dennis, 02660.
