C. Aleta Lannert, age 66, of Peoria, passed away on Monday, March 3, 2014 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Aleta was born on January 5, 1948 in Peoria, IL to Harry and Irma (Herget) Shoup. She married John W. Lannert on October 16, 1971 in Peoria.
Aleta is survived by her husband, John; two sons, Dr. Lonny (Angie) Lannert of Bartonville, IL and Aaron Lannert and his fiancé, Lace Lutes of Bellevue, IL; six grandchildren, Danielle, Falynn, Heather, Meta, Audra and Maci; her brother, Ronald (Paula) Shoup of Arizona; two nephews, Randy (Mae) Shoup and Rory Shoup, both of Arizona; and one niece, Dawn Buscemi of New York. She was preceded in death by one son, Todd Lannert; and her parents.
Aleta attended Manual High School and received her cosmetology license from Flamingo Beauty School. She was also a talented artist and showed this in her floral creations and crafts. She participated with her husband in craft shows on the Spoon River Drive for many years. She had an eye for seeing the potential in antiques and could make even the most weathered item look beautiful again. She also enjoyed spending time with her relatives in Arizona.
The love and pride of her family was most important to Aleta. She was a beloved grandmother and cherished spending time with her sons and family and made them her priority. She had a beautiful sparkle in her eyes that showed through her vibrant personality. Aleta had a deep faith and love for her Heavenly Father and will now rest in peace by his side. She left an imprint on many hearts and left this world much too soon. She will be greatly missed by all.
Services will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 10am at the Davison-Fulton Bartonville Chapel. Rev. Steve Dunn will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 5pm to 8pm at the funeral home. Burial will be at Swan Lake Memory Gardens in Peoria.
