Carl was born in Kansas City, Kansas to Carl R. and Mabel Heathman on June 4, 1924. Carl grew up in the Wyandotte area and as a young child, held many different jobs to help his family. After graduating from Wyandotte High School, he was drafted into the Navy, and soon after received an honorable discharge. This is when he began his long career working for Proctor and Gamble. He rose quickly to management level at Proctors and was there happily for over 39 years. Carl worked hard and smart, he cared for his workers and their safety. He was a trouble shooter in almost every department at the Kansas factory. While moving up in the company Carl met the love of his life, Nellie and married her on April 2, 1968. Nellie and Carl loved adventure; together they traveled, hunted and fished. It should be said that they were both excellent fishermen. Carl and Nellie moved to Shawnee in 1993 to be closer to their family. Carl was a Brother in the Kansas Free Masons of Wyandotte Lodge #3 for over 70 years.
He was a loving father to Shirley Douglas, a devoted Grandfather to Brett and Michael (Karen) Douglas, and a proud Great grandpa to Logan and Madison Douglas. They called him Papa and he will be unbelievably missed. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Robert, sister, Sherry Hoover, son-in-law, Fredrick Douglas and his faithful wife, Nellie. Carl will be lovingly remembered by his brother Gerald (Connie), nephews James (Kim), Gary (Lois), Gerald (Gayle) and niece Connie Standiford, and many wonderful neighbors he called friends. Carl was an extraordinary man who lived a wonderful life. He worked hard, was devoted to his wife and loved his family. We will all miss him for different reasons but most of all he will be missed for his unending knowledge of everything and his great life stories.

I am sorry to here of Carl passing. He was a good friend. The obituary describes him to a tee. He always mentioned his sadness about losing Nellie
when ever we talked. Myself and the"P&G Old Soapers" will miss him.

My parents (Ruth & Carl Stimac) and I were neighbors to Carl (nickname at the time was Wiggie?) when he lived at 1104 Orville at least 45 years ago. Fondly recall visits during Christmas holidays. Back then he was a fun loving and very helpful neighbor. Linda Stimac KCK
