Obituary

Carl A. Amato October 11, 2010 Carl A. Amato, 77, of Kirkville, passed away Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Syracuse to Nicholas and Mary (Turco) Amato, he was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War and participated in Operation Castle in the Marshall Islands. He was employed by Swift Meat Packing for 35 years before retiring and going to work part time for Frigo Design. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. Carl was predeceased by 3 sisters, Anna Bonn, Helen Pizzi and Genevieve Gambocorto, and 2 brothers, Pasquale and Robert. His survivors and caregivers are...

Carl A. Amato, 77, of Kirkville, passed away Monday at St. Joseph's Hospital following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Syracuse to Nicholas and Mary (Turco) Amato, he was a US Army Veteran of the Korean War and participated in Operation Castle in the Marshall Islands. He was employed by Swift Meat Packing for 35 years before retiring and going to work part time for Frigo Design. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and golfing. Carl was predeceased by 3 sisters, Anna Bonn, Helen Pizzi and Genevieve Gambocorto, and 2 brothers, Pasquale and Robert.

His survivors and caregivers are nephews; Richard (Diane) Amato, of Solvay and Frank (Sharon) Gambocorto, of Baldwinsville, 2 sisters-in-law; Irene Amato, of Solvay and Gilda Amato, of NC and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Memorial services will be conducted Monday at 5:30 pm in BAGOZZI TWINS FUNERAL HOME, Solvay. Calling hours are from 4 to 5:30 pm Monday at the funeral home, 2601 Milton Ave. Private burial will be in the Onondaga County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Syracuse.
